In the early ’80s, a student at Carnegie Mellon University even wrote a program that could tell him whether a Coke machine was full of cold soda or not, so he wouldn’t have to walk all the way to the machine and find that it was empty.
Coding can also teach you important skills to help you be successful in your career. Even if you don’t end up writing code for a living, learning to code helps you learn to carefully check your work for errors and be persistent about solving problems, which are useful skills for any job. You might also find yourself needing to ask someone else for help with your code; this can help you practice collaborating with others, which you’ll need to do in most careers.
